Dr. Ghislain Kouematchoua Tchuitcheu

Dr. Ghislain Kouematchoua Tchuitcheu is a computer scientist and health informatics expert based in Hamburg, Germany. He is currently Chief Information Officer (CIO) at the “Kassenärztliche Vereinigung Hamburg (KVH) – Hamburg Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians”. Before this he was a clinical IT, eHealth and telematics consultant at the KVH and a researcher and docent at the Department of Medical Informatics of the Georg-August University of Göttingen. He has been coordinator of the Health Informatics Program of this University and Rep of the Göttinger Health Informatics Program to the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA). Further to these, Dr. Kouematchoua has been consultant for international Organizations dealing with eHealth/health informatics issues in Africa.

In addition to the above activities, Dr. Kouematchoua is actively involved in many scientific organizations. He is President of the Pan African Health Informatics Association (HELINA) and has been general chair of the HELINA conferences since 2011. He is member of the board of directors of the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA) as Vice President for HELINA. He is also Vice President and founding member of the Cameroonian Society for Health Informatics (CAHIS) and member of the German Society for Medical Informatics, Biometry and Epidemiology (GMDS). Finally Dr. Kouematchoua is founder, chairman and CEO of the NGO Koegni-eHealth Innovation for Development, which is publishing the Journal of Health Informatics in Africa (JHIA) and has initiated and implemented health informatics initiatives for Cameroon that include research, education and curriculum development projects in collaboration with German Universities as well as the development and implementation of Health Information Systems, decision support systems, and capacity building programs based on ICT facilities in rural and urban areas.
